However, the only attack that can deal damage to them in this state is the Ultima Weapon all other attacks do 0 damage. Petrify makes virtually every attack made to the target have a perfect hit rate if they are not unblockable already. The Petrify status is the source of the Ultima Weapon and Petrify glitch. Inflicts moderate non-elemental damage and petrify. Monsters with petrify set are just killed, and cannot be healed. Petrified targets cannot be attacked by conventional attacks only those that are specifically designed to be able to hit characters with petrify can be directed at them. Petrified characters keep their HP score, but can no longer act, nor can they Cover for other allies. This is the first game in which petrify and death can be inflicted at the same time, albeit only by Exdeath.Ĭharacters with petrify set are considered 'dead', and a party of four statues equals a Game Over. Some enemies, such as Objet d'Arts, are stone-based, and items and magic that would normally cure the petrify status will instantly kill them. The Petrify status returns as a status effect in the sequel of Final Fantasy IV, and it functions the same way as its predecessor. Inflicts Petrify on a target, but must be used with a bow. Group-cast Break is not possible in the 3D versions. Inflicts Petrify on 1 target or all targets. The Break spell inflicts Stone, and the status will remove Float, Blind, and Silence, but not Focus, Bluff, Bravery, Faith, or Bubble. Stone is the status once a character is petrified. The Petrify status acts like Gradual Petrify, eventually turning a character to stone if enough turns pass. In the 3D versions, Petrify and Stone exist as separate status ailments. This status will remove all other statuses except Toad, Mini, Pig, Blind, Silence, and Float. ![]() Counts as a KO for determining "game over". A character inflicted by Petrify cannot act, and is not a valid target except for effects that can remove the status. The status will make the characters appear to be made of stone, and monsters inflicted by Petrify will be removed from the battle and treated as KO. Tellah's Esuna fails to reverse the spell, but the twins are healed by the Elder of Mysidia. The status itself immediately turns the victim to stone. The Petrify status is a plot device used when Palom and Porom Twincast Break on themselves. 1.23 Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light.1.16.1 Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift.1.4.2 Final Fantasy IV: The After Years. The Blue Mage job wields exclusively canes as a weapon. The sections below deal in various equipment that can only be worn by Blue Mage. #įollowing is a list of the role abilities that can be assigned to Blue Mage. To see any additional locations where these abilities may be found, see the ability's own page. The location listed is the one displayed in the game. As there are no level requirements for learning Blue Mage abilities (aside from the level requirement to enter duties), they are listed in numerical order as displayed in the Blue Magic Spellbook. This section lists the abilities you can only learn and use as a Blue Mage. Note that as a limited job, Blue Mage cannot use PVP abilities or limit breaks. The Carnivale is unlocked at the completion of the first lv50 quest. *The second lv50 quest does not require an ability, but does require the completion of Masked Carnivale level 25. The first listed quest unlocks the job itself. They can be undertaken after you reach certain levels on your Blue Mage and learning certain abilities. Upon completion of the first quest you will be rewarded with a True Blue (lv1) equipment set (see below in Armor). Note that switching between skillsets will not change your hotbars. You can have a maximum of 24 abilities chosen, and can save up to five different skillsets. To choose which abilities to use in battle, you must open the Blue Magic Spellbook, and choose from those you have learnt, much like setting role actions. The chance of learning the ability depends on the difficulty rank of the ability itself. If you are alive at the death of the mob, you have a chance of learning these abilities. Instead, you or your party must defeat enemies after they have used certain abilities. Unlike other jobs, Blue Mage does not learn abilities via leveling up or through quests. It is an advanced limited job, and as such cannot join Duty Roulette, PVP, or play through the main scenario quests. Unlocking Blue Mage requires having a level 50 job and completing the quest The Ultimate Weapon.
